Description
Very nice iron sculpture designed by Theo Niermeijer (1940-2005) Amsterdam, 1970. This large and heavy sculpture is made of oxidized metal, bent and welded into this abstract modern figurine shaped sculpture. All his works are unique; he made his sculptures of metal waste, mostly. Especially in the beginning he was really searching for a style. Niermeijer was an energetic man and an avid traveler. He followed various artists trainings in Amsterdam, Antwerp and Warsaw and traveled through North Africa, Iceland, the United States and the Middle and Far East. In particular influences of the Far East are visible in Niermeijers work. He is also called the Iron poet and not for no reason. Very sculpture made in the 1970s in abstract modern shapes. Was purchased directly from the private collection of Theo Niermeijer and this can be used in or outdoors.
