Description
Soir D’Automne is an original print in etching technique on ivory paper, realized by Augustin Mongin (French Painter; 1843-1911) and by A. Salmon. Good condition: as good as new. This etching realized by Augustin Mongin and Salmon shows the sculptor’s signature on the bottom right and the painter’s signature on the bottom left. The title of the work is shown on the lower center. On the top center, Cannibal. Image Container: 25 x 35 cm Augustin Mongin (1843-1911): Augustin Mongin studied drawing and engraving with Lon Gaucherel. He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1874, exhibiting an engraving after Le Cheval de l’ordonnance (1869), a canvas by Ernest Meissonier; he lives at 116 rue d’Assas. In 1876, he received a third class medal there, then, in 1885, at the Salon of French artists, a second class medal. He then became a member-member of this salon, where he exhibited regularly until 1904; at that time, he said he lived at 25 avenue du Maine. In 1879 and 1881, he exhibited his work at the Royal Academy of Arts (London). In 1895, he took part in the Bordeaux exhibition. Member of the Socit des aquafortistes franais, he became its president.
