An additional pencil sketch on the verso shows Taorminas Piazza Duomo Fountain in front of the Taormina Cathedral.The German painter Carl Friedrich Heinrich Werner (18081894) won a study scholarship to Italy in 1832, which enabled him to visit Venice, Bologna, Florence and Rome. In those years he refined his watercolour skills, and in 1851 he opened his workshop in Venice, becoming a well-known watercolour painter.In watercolour with touches of graphite and scratching out.
