Description
Charming little Louis-Philippe period box in rosewood with marquetry net as well as the word “odor” inlaid on the lid. The interior covered with a blue fabric and a purple velvet includes two reserves or which contain two small porcelain cups (one is missing) which were used to contain ointments or salts. In fact, women wearing very tight bodices were very often subject to discomfort, and had to breathe salts to regain their senses.
