Description
Les Banderilles is an color linocut reproduction realized after Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). Linocut reproduction realized in smaller size after a linoleum by Pablo Picasso of 1959. Passepartout included. Very good conditions, except for minor signs of foxing on edges. The image shows vivid and fresh colors. This work is part of an outstanding edition realized by Gerd Hatje in Stuttgart in 1962, as German edition of the French one realized by Galerie Leiris and published by Edition Cercle d’Art. Pablo Picasso is one of the key figures of modern art, regarded as the creator of Cubism. He made original artworks and developed new imagery and formal syntax. In addition to this, Picasso realized wonderful etchings and linocuts, which exemplify his immense talent also as a printmaker. Linocuts form a relatively small part of Picassos oeuvre as a printmaker, however some of his most extraordinary compositions were produced using this method in a short burst of activity between 1958 and 1963. The artist, at the age of 78, turned away from etching and lithography his favourite means of graphic expression and embraced the linocut technique.
