Woman and Horse is an original Contemporary artwork realized in the 1960s by the Italian artist Angelo Savelli (Pizzo, 1911 – Dello, 1995). Original ink and watercolor on Ivory Paper. Hand-signed on the upper left corner: A.Savelli. Image Dimensions: 17 x 22 cm Excellent conditions. Woman and Horse is an excellent artwork that depicts a nude figure with a horse in the center of the composition. The work is realized with black china ink and different shades of watercolors. The stroke is very fresh and the lines are smart and rapid. The watercolor creates a chiaroscuro that defines the whole composition. The work has been realized by the Italian artist Angelo Savelli (Pizzo, 1911 – Dello, 1995). In the years 1946-1947 in the first works of the artist there is the appearance of white. In various crucifixions, Christ and Magdalene appear painted in white. This is the period in which Savelli feels the need to try new emotions. The Roman School is now limiting for him; instead Futurism and Prampolini’s experiments spurred him to seek new techniques. In 1948 he obtained a one-month scholarship in Paris; extends his stay to one year. The Parisian experience is a revelation. n 1959 he approaches white with relief prints; raises white as the only color. He elaborates a monochromatic art and creates works of extreme rarefaction and formal cleanliness. On November 30, 1994, the Venice Biennale invites Savelli to participate with a personal room in the Italian section for the XLVI Biennale.
