This is an antique McDonald’s rotary hat iron. An American, nickel and ebonised millinery tool in original box, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Fascinating hat iron, presented with the original box and instruction leaflet
Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good order
Beautifully polished nickel plate presents bright tonality
Tactile handle, turned and ebonised for a deep black contrast
Heated for use, the iron is useful for smoothing out the nap of silk top hats
Engraved to the end of the iron for the countries in which it was patented
The handle cap states the date of the patent being granted – June 7th, 1892
