Description

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects.
Particular and elegant chair with a solid and functional structure; the most interesting part of the chair is the elaborate and imaginative backrest with a harmonious and refined design; in the middle, there is precious woodwork, carved with skill and ability by a master cabinetmaker; the front legs have been meticulously turned to give them a light and proportionate shape, while the rear ones have a slightly curved square section; the seat top is removable and a wooden pin on the front crossbar allows the top itself to fit perfectly into its natural housing. The seat upholstery was replaced in ancient times and is in good condition (a bit of wear on the front, see photo) so we did not consider doing any restoration on the whole chair because its authentic look and slight imperfections make it really seductive and fascinating and attest its antiquity. The chair was handcrafted in Denmark in perfect Biedermeier style using African feathered mahogany wood between 1850 and 1855 during the reign of Frederick VII. The Biedermeier style spread mainly in Austria and Germany between 1820 and 1850 characterizes the furniture and furnishings that became simpler in response to the majesty typical of the Empire style. The Biedermeier style, born after the Congress of Vienna and the decline of the Napoleonic Empire, is intended in particular for the bourgeoisie, who wanted simple and functional furniture. The aim of the Biedermeier artistic movement is to enhance sobriety and harmony, modifying some of the stylistic motifs from the previous period, but stripping them of all the decorations, frills, and excesses that had characterized it. In this chair, sober and harmonious is cleverly emphasized the combination of curved and straight lines in an interesting game of volumes and geometries, giving the object a timeless elegance that can characterize any room of the house. Measures width cm.48, depth cm.48, height cm.88, seat cm.48.For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
