Description
This is a beautiful and rare piece of modernist Italian ceramic from the mid -century of the Zaccagnini ceramics. Depicting two Japanese geishes who play an arpa (Kugo), the style owes a lot to the inheritance Art Nouveau and art of the company. Produced under the protection of Urbano Zaccagnini who had detected the ceramic activity from his father Ugo in 1937, the attention shifted to the decorative figurines, finding the favor of high -class US shops such as Tiffany. During this period they also produced limited characters, highly collectable and valuable for Disney. This wonderful piece contrasts an unknown opaque base with an enamel of vibrant yellow majolica that gives the stylized figure an ancient appearance.
