Description
Beautiful large mid-century modern Murano sommerso glass catchall/small bowl designed by Flavio Poli (Italy, 1960s). Made of thick dark blue, blue and transparent Murano glass. Perfectly works as an ashtray, a vide poche, a catchall or just as a display piece on any table. Original label still readable (can be removed very easily if needed). Width: 14.5 cm/5.7”; depth: 13.5 cm/5.3”; height: 6 cm/2.4”. Excellent vintage condition.
”Sommerso” is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s/60s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly caused by a clear layer.
