Description
Man Portrait is a beautiful portrait drawn with a sanguine pencil by the French artist Georges Julien Sortais. The state of preservation is very good, except for some stains of fungal foxing and dirt, especially in the central part of the artwork. The upper right corner is torn, whilst the upper left corner presents a small fold. On the lower right, there is the inscription A lami Hayot / G. Sartan / 1886. Georges Julien Sortais was a painter and art historian, specialized in the Renaissance. This drawing is beautiful for the intensity of the mans face, portrayed with great realism and an essential rapid stroke, according to the typical style of Impressionist portraits. This is a fascinating artwork, realized with great mastery, with a typology of stroke common in the portraiture of late-1800 France. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the works market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the licence according to the final destination of the artwork.
