Description
This is a rare example of a cordite, used on Royal Navy ships to carry cordite charges. These are constructed of cork covered in canvas or leather, this one has been finished in leather, with large and robustly stitched leather carrying handle attached with brass pins, this particular cordite is extremely unusual as it has three pieces joined by leather strapping. C1930
These were made to carry cordite, and were flash proof containers for bag charges (cartridges) the charges were placed into these containers before they left the magazines.
This Cordite is in lovely condition and would make an exquisite addition to any home, perhaps used as an umbrella or stick stand.
